Red Suspenders Timber Frames, Inc. has been dedicated to the design and crafting of fine timber frame homes and other structures since 1983. We have a national market focus and are well known within our industry. Our commitment to quality and customer care has served us well throughout the years.

Location:

All of the following positions are located at our Nacogdoches Texas operations. Nacogdoches is the oldest city in Texas and is the home of Stephen F. Austin State University. The city is located in the Piney Woods of East Texas on State Hwy. 59 north of Lufkin Texas and south of the Henderson/Kilgore area. The community has a small town atmosphere and a deep cultural history coupled with the sophistication a college environment brings. A family can live a quality centered life in Nacogdoches more economically than many parts of Texas and indeed the country.

Production Manager

We have an immediate opening for a new position at Red Suspenders. The Production Manager we select will be an individual with prior timber framing experience who can provide the leadership required to run our Nacogdoches production operation. This person will be principally responsible for the following duties:

  • Planning and organizing the flow of work in our shops.
  • Managing hours, project budgets and schedules
  • Training Apprentice timber framers in the arts of layout, joinery, raising and general shop work
  • Setting up and managing raising crews
  • Ensuring overall shop and site safety compliance
  • Managing our quality assurance program
  • Attending to a host of other responsibilities associated with the production of timber frame projects

While considered part of management, this is a working position and you will be expected to get your hands dirty. The successful candidate will have:

  • At least 3 years of successful prior timber framing experience preferably with an industry recognized timber frame company.
  • At least a high school education with a college degree preferred.
  • An demonstrable understanding of:
    • Construction drawings with an emphasis on timber frame details
    • Layout of joinery and other timber fabrication details
    • Timber frame joinery above the simple mortise and tenon
    • The timber frame fabrication process

Apprentice Timber Framer

We are presently looking for individuals interested in learning the timber frame craft and becoming part of our team. We are willing and able to train persons who are motivated to learn a new skill in a friendly and stimulating environment.

Requirements include:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to communicate with other team members
  • Woodworking experience helpful but not required
  • Some travel required
  • Dedication to a job well done
